Subject	In/ out Play in driveshaft at diff connection?

Message	There is in/ out play at the cv style joint in the rear end of the driveshaft. About an inch. Should I be able to pull it in and out? I'm not aware if it should do this, or just side to side pivoting. I'm trying to track down why I have "bucking" issued in my trans/ shifter.
